I know that a while ago the civic assc was trying to get them to move the Parkway a half mile east of Sugarmill Woods. Does anyone know the outcome?

I don't believe that they have rendered a final verdict on the matter. I think that the determination of the route has been settled and they will have their hands full attempting to change it though. It may take several months before they come to a definite decision.

Oh well, Sugarmill Woods doesn't need a highway running through it, but I guess if they don't change the route it may mean more business in the area anyway.

From my understanding, the Suncoast Parkway would skirt the outside of Sugarmill Woods anyway. I don't see how this would harm anything, it's not like it would be running right through the residential area.

It doesn't look like you'll have to worry about the suncoast parkway for a while anyhow. The state is pulling its funding, which will put the project on hold for quite a long time if not indefinitely.

While this was the case when you wrote this, it looks like the local powers that be are not going down without making some noise. Citrus County Chamber of Commerce President Dixie Hollins, made a plea to the County Commission on Tuesday asking them to reconsider the Suncoast Parkway project. As a result, County Commission Chairman, John Thrumston, has arranged for a meeting next week with county commissioners. So, it looks like we won't know the results for a while yet and by the looks of it, we won't know if it's really going to happen until we see the heavy equipment breaking ground.
